Welcome to Falkland In Bloom...

"Our main aim in Falkland in Bloom is to attempt to improve the local environment in which we live. We do this in many ways, through horticulture, recycling, sustainability and encouraging the conservation of our landscape and biodiversity. As the years have progressed we have found ourselves also becoming involved in litter prevention and education. Through this website we would simply hope to tell others about our work and to encourage other communities to become involved in similar projects"

Social Enterprises - Open Evening

Want to do something different?
You may have heard that Falkland in Bloom has a new venture. We are creating a social enterprise - a community interest commercial operation - that will work alongside Falkland in Bloom as you know it.

Falkland in Bloom itself isn't changing - we still need and value the work of our volunteers and the support of our community. Social enterprise gives us the opportunity to expand our efforts to other Bloom communities across Fife without impacting on the work we do to keep Falkland blooming.

The social enterprise will be managed and run separately and we're looking for volunteers to join this new management committee. We are looking to establish an enthusiastic and committed Board of Directors to take on responsibilities such as project management, financial matters, planning physical resources, people management and business support.

If you'd like to find out more about joining our Board of Directors then please join us at our open evening on Monday 19th December 2011 in the Coffee Bar, Community Hall, from 7.30 - 8.30 p.m.

If that's not your thing but you have time to give and would like to help Falkland in Bloom in the village, then we'd love to hear from you. All new volunteers are most welcome!

Britain in Bloom 2011 Delegates visit Falkland

Falkland in Bloom Hosts Britain in Bloom Delegates On Sunday 25th September, Falkland in Bloom opened its doors at Sugar Acre to Bloom delegates attending the Britain in Bloom awards ceremony in St Andrews. Delegates from across the UK were welcomed to Sugar Acre and had the opportunity to see and hear more about the work of Falkland in Bloom and its partner, Fife Conservation Group. Our visitors also had the opportunity for a tour of the Palace Gardens and the village. We were delighted to have so many positive comments on our facilities and the quality of planting across the village, and of course to hear such praise for the historic village itself.

Fund Raising and Sponsorship.

Falkland in Bloom remains grateful to those who support us by sponsorship of the village map, baskets and displays and through personal donations. Main sponsors whose help is especially important to help us in our work are Fife Council, Lomond Electricals, Smith Anderson, Tullis Russell, Ladywell House, Pillars of Hercules, Smart Cookies and Double A.

Can you help?

We are always looking for volunteers to join our group. If you can give a little bit of your time to us, please get in touch.
