With the season already well under way, a number of judging
groups have visited the village and we have been advised that
Falkland has retained the
award for Best Medium Village in East Fife.
Judges acting on behalf of Fife Wide and Scotland in Bloom have also toured
the village recently but it will be some time until results of their
findings are announced in the months ahead. |

One of Britain in Bloom's top judges, along with a lady
colleague, arrives here on
Thursday, 5th. August
when we will be measured against other communities in our category from
locations all over Great Britain. Our floral displays are in fine order
again this year, despite indifferent summer weather, but there are many
other things that can win or lose us points. The judges also consider
matters like sustainable planting, recycling, the local environment,
litter and of course, community involvement. |

|
Following the great support we received from residents last
summer during this inspection, we are asking that everyone in the village
again plays a part in ensuring Falkland looks its best that day. Local
householders are being asked to ensure gardens are neat and tidy, with grass
cut and house fronts free from weeds and litter. Evidence of dog fouling
loses us points and we are also seeking the co-operation of dog owners by
asking them to clear up after their pets.
Thursday, August 5th. is Falkland's big day ---- anyone who
can play a part in this community effort is warmly invited to do so. |
