Falkland Primary is a designated “eco-friendly”
school and, with the co-operation of the head teacher and staff, over 100
pupils make regular visits to our site. As part of their school project on
Living Things, P5 pupils planted thousands of Alder, Ash and Silver Birch
seeds in the hope that young trees can be planted out around Falkland in the
years ahead.
During the summer term, the P7 pupils take over lessons when they began
their project on Plants for Wildlife. As “Buddies” to P1 pupils, the older
children accompanied these younger protégés for the last few visits in the
summer term to introduce them to the pleasures of growing things. Pupils
work in conjunction with George Kemp who structures the lessons and provides
excellent hands on experience and horticultural knowledge.
