Entente Florale Review 2007...

The visit of judges from twelve different European countries in 2007, probably was the most exacting examination of Falkland experienced by our group and there is little doubt that the painstaking preparations for the visit paid off. During their four-hour tour, the judges were given presentations by a number or representatives from different groups and establishments, with visits taking them to Falkland Estate, the Church, the local school and the Palace. To add to the day’s excitement, a television crew from B.B.C.’s Beechgrove Garden was also in attendance and although short, the coverage shown later on national television was an excellent record of a memorable day. That evening the judges were treated to warm Scottish hospitality in our Community Hall where an excellent meal, as well as music from the Lomond Ceildh Band and a Highland Dancing display, were appreciated by our guests from the Continent.

Some eighteen Falkland representatives later attended the presentation ceremony in Ripon Cathedral. The architecture, general décor and lighting of the interior of this magnificent building, as well as the delight at receiving a Gold Award, ensured the Falkland party took happy memories of an impressive experience back home to Fife!
