Project Manager...

Falkland in Bloom launch Social Enterprise - Extended closing date.

The successful voluntary organisation Falkland in Bloom is to be awarded funding to allow them to pursue a long held desire to assist other Fife communities. A grant from Fife Leader will enable the group to employ a project manager to manage the initiative.

Keith Jackson, founder member and past chair of Falkland in Bloom stated, “It is a natural progression for a successful voluntary organisation to move into the employment and commercial market and we are all excited about the potential to assist other Fife communities. As part of our enterprise, we hope to be able to supply bedding plants and hanging baskets at a discounted price and will also be leasing planted hanging baskets to communities that don’t have the facilities to allow them to create their own displays.”

Falkland in Bloom is one of the most successful Bloom groups in the UK, having won the large village category of Britain in Bloom and in 2010 successfully defended the Champion of Champions category. They have now retired from participating in campaigns to concentrate their expertise at a more local level.

The group's Treasurer Lee Ryan continued, “It is important to stress that the Social Enterprise will be a separate entity and Falkland in Bloom will still be dependent on the fantastic efforts and enthusiasm of our volunteers to continue our work in the village.”
